   As i remember....John doesn't want to open the hatch because he thinks if he opened the hatch....then he will can't walk again.   That's what I think.

That might be in later episode.    He only told Boone not to tell others about the hatch, so far.  And then Boone died in the accident.  Now he is the only one who know about the hatch.

Hmm....have you ever think about because of the ISLAND doesn't want more than 1 person to know there is a hatch.....then some special force to cause Boone's accident...

wow I have never thought about that but that is possible!  So the island gave Locke all the signs about the plane, when they found the plane, the island somehow made Locke's leg unusable, so Locke pursuade Boone to climb up to the plane, and then the accident happened.

Yes!  This is what I am trying to point out.  2 people know a secret.  One of them wants to keep it, but another will tell the others.  The best way to keep the secret is cause the one who wants to talk which CAN'T talk....
