just a small question about computer monitors

k....well I hav an extra computer monitor...and it's pretty new, so I don't want to waste it by leaving it in the basement.....

I was wondering if there's a way that I could connected it to a dvd player, or plug it to a tv cable and watch tv....or do I actually hav to buy a computer??

I assume it is an old monitor that only have a VGA input.  You may get a device called "video to VGA Converter" and it converts regular composite video signal to VGA.  It should be less than US$100.  Quality wise I am not sure.  But they have different ones that support different format.  For example, if you wants to output s-video from dvd player, you will have to make sure the one you are getting supports "s-video to VGA" conversion.  

As for watching cable TV, I think it is similar concept.  There should be device that converts cable signals to VGA.  You will have to shop around.  :)  But that should be do-able.
