ConvertxToDVD Guide

ConvertxToDVD is a very useful one-click video converter. The process is simplified so user can just input the video in its native format and let the program do the work from encoding to DVD authoring. When the project is done, it is ready to be burned onto an blank DVD-r.

Best of all, this program handles almost all popular video formats, and is capable to convert them to DVD ready mpegs. Including a simple menu. It also supports multi audio tracks and subtitles.

Only caveat is it will only produce full D-1 mpegs, (720*XXX). User cannot force it to encode to lesser resolutions like half D-1 or VCD resolutions. Thus, it is not recommended to encode more than 4 hours of video as per project. The picture quality would vastly deteriorated if you tried to put more video on one disc. For best result, keep the total time to around 3 hours.

Another concern is, although it seems to be able to decode Realmedia (RMVB) files, but it doesn't seem to read the frame rates correctly. Therefore, I would suggest using AVISynth to frame serve RM files to the program.

This guide is aimed for RMVB conversions. So before beginning the tutoial, please download and install AVISynth from here:

Click ' Convert' when ready.

Preparing Avisynth Script:

After installing avisynth, open notepad and write the script as following: ( xxx is the proper name/path to the rmvb file, the name/path cannot contain Chinese or non-English characters)

DirectShowSource("X:\xxx\xxx.rmvb", fps=25, convertfps=true)

Save the script as xxx.avs, choose ' ALL File' when saving.

Make sure you have the correct frame rate by checking with AVICodec or GSpot. If the reported frame rate is anything other than 25 or 29.97 or 30.00, like some commonly seen 23 fps, use 25 for PAL recording sources, and 29.97 for NTSC sources.

Test the script by opening it with Windows Media Player or Media Player Classic.

*Side note: When frameserving MKV or MP4 files, DO NOT put in the frame rates. These formats were developed with VFR (variable frame rates) in mind, forcing framerates upon it will cause studdering results.

DirectShowSource("X:\xxx\xxx.mkv")
